TASK FOCUS
- Perform material testing and incoming inspection of bar steel
- Review certificates from raw material suppliers
- Prepare and document technical reports for test samples
- Interpret customer standards regarding surface treatment
- Manage procurement of consumables for the material laboratory
- Act as the company’s expert for purchasing testing equipment for lab operations
- Administer mechanical testing and coordinate with external laboratories
- Archive material testing results and ensure compliance with internal/external standards
- Conduct investigations and follow-ups on quality-related issues
- Provide technical support for heat treatment processes
- Investigate material deviations and represent material technology in RFQ processes
- Deliver customer service on material technology-related inquiries
- Evaluate and follow up steel suppliers in Sweden and Europe
- Conduct technical audits and assess supplier processes and equipment
- Own and develop steel specifications
- Analyze material data, test results, and process changes
- Build relationships with external suppliers and internal units in Europe; travel approx. once per month
PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree in Materials Engineering or Metallurgy, or equivalent
- At least five years of experience in the steel, forging, or metal industry
- Deep understanding of steel manufacturing, alloys, and process effects
- Experience in supplier evaluation and technical audits
- Ability to analyze material data and assess risks in processes and supply chains
- Excellent English skills; Swedish is a strong advantage
- Driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly within Europe
- Knowledge of ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14001, CQI-9, and Core Tools is an advantage
- Practical skills in mechanical testing (impact and tensile), microstructure evaluation, hardness testing, and surface treatment
