A 3D rendering of an industrial metal rail system with two sets of angled, parallel tracks held up by supports. The structure includes several mechanical components made from aluminium Schmiedeteile and appears designed for guiding or holding objects, possibly in an automotive manufacturing setup.

Claw lock devices for frogs

With a movable frog, the impact loads during wheel overruns are significantly reduced compared to fixed frogs, which contributes making the rail vehicles run more smoothly. CDP Rail Systems has developed a special Claw lock devices for frogs .

Our claw lock devices for frogs

Moveable frogs play an important part in rail and point technology, particularly in the high-speed lines area. The decisive advantage of these systems compared to fixed frogs is that there is no interruption of the running edge during operation. This does not only ensure smoother running of the wheelset when changing tracks, but also significantly reduces wear and tear on the points. The EVH from CDP Rail Systems has been specially developed for these moveable frogs. This design ensures that the frog is reliably pressed against the wing rail and held in position. This reliable fixing ensures that rail vehicles can pass through the frog of a point without any issues.

With their robust design and material properties, the Claw lock devices for frogs from CDP Rail Systems are ideally suited to the demanding operating conditions. The EVH is characterised by its long service life and low maintenance requirements. This does not only ensure that there is a very high degree of availability for the rail network, but also reduces operating and maintenance costs over the long term. Easy to install and individually adjustable, the EVH is now standard within the Deutsche Bahn AG network and on branch lines.

Your questions - Our answers

Are training courses available on how to install and service claw lock devices for frogs ?

Yes, CDP Rail Systems has developed a special training course for the EVH. We offer this programme to our customers directly on site. During the training course, we not only provide employees with the expert knowledge that they need regarding the design and functioning of our claw lock device for frogs , we also conduct practical exercises on how to install it correctly in the signal box. After completing the training, all participants will have sufficient experience to reliably install the EVH.

How is the training structured in terms of content?

Our training programme is divided into a theoretical section and a practical section, with each taking around 2-3 hours. In the theoretical part, we explain in detail the structure of the claw lock device for frogs , its individual functions and the maintenance measures that it will require. In the practical part, we will teach you step-by-step how to properly assemble and accurately adjust the locking system, as well as how to use the necessary measuring equipment and tools. We issue certificates to all participants on request.

How long are the maintenance intervals for the claw lock device for frogs?

The maintenance interval depends on a number of factors and varies depending on where the moveable point frog is deployed. We provide our customers with detailed instructions for the claw lock device for frogs containing all of the necessary information regarding servicing and inspection. If damage to the claw lock device for frogs is discovered during an inspection, the required parts can be quickly replaced via CDP Rail Systems.

Why does it make sense to switch to the EVH?

Compared to other locking systems, the EVH makes quick assembly and individual adjustment options possible. The EVH was developed together with the EVZ by CDP Rail Systems on behalf of Deutsche Bahn AG. It has been used as a standard lock within the DB AG network since 2016. This ensures a high degree of availability for our claw lock devices for frogs and makes it much easier to replace wearing parts. The EVH also has approval from the German Federal Railway Authority (Eisenbahn-Bundesamt, or EBA).

Are the UVP plates included in the scope of delivery?

No, the UVP plates are not included in the scope of delivery for the EVH (claw lock devices for frogs ). The plates are individually tailored to the respective frogs and specially adapted to ensure optimum functionality. As a result, the UVP plates need to be purchased separately..

Is the EVH also suitable for industrial points (branch lines)?

Yes, CDP has developed a special version of the EVH specifically for industrial points. This adapted version of the EVH is designed to fulfil the associated special requirements and demands in the best possible way. It offers the same reliability that is required for problem-free operation of industrial points, and guarantees optimum functionality in this environment.

Which tools are required for assembly?

Our instructions contain a list of all the tools required to install the claw lock devices for frogs. In order to ensure you will have the right tool at hand for all locking systems in future, CDP Rail Systems has developed a special EVZ Toolkit. This contains all of the necessary tools that can be used for these locking types. The EVZ Toolkit can be ordered from us at any time.
