Bharat Forge Daun stands for technological excellence and the highest level of manufacturing expertise. As part of our mechanical processing division, we offer you precise CNC turning – complemented by our expertise in tool and fixture construction
CNC turning is a machining production process in which rotationally symmetrical components are manufactured from metal. The workpiece rotates on a lathe while a CNC-controlled cutting tool removes material layer by layer.
A CNC program controls all movements such as speed, feed and tool paths automatically and with high repeat accuracy. This produces precise contours, bores or threads on workpieces such as shafts, sleeves or rings.
The process is used wherever round components with high dimensional accuracy and consistent quality are required – for example in the automotive industry, in mechanical engineering or in railroad technology.
At Bharat Forge Daun CNC turning is a central component of the CNC machining.
Our CNC lathes enable the precise machining of a wide range of metallic materials – primarily steel, but also other materials depending on requirements. Thanks to automated feeds, precisely controlled speeds and the use of multiple axes, even complex geometries can be produced with a high degree of dimensional accuracy.
Thanks to stable processes, we achieve tight tolerances, clean contours and consistent surface quality – regardless of the quantity. This technical basis makes CNC turning a central process of our CNC machining and creates the basis for precise components in a wide range of applications and industries.

Advantages at a glance:
In CNC turning, the cutting tool moves along the X and Z axes, while the workpiece rotates around the Z axis. Modern CNC lathes often use additional Y or C axes to produce angled bores or eccentric contours. The CNC machines from Bharat Forge Daun – such as those from FMS and Heyligenstaedt – work with this classic X/Z configuration for large components up to 615 mm in diameter and 1,500 mm in length.
This means that even complex geometries can be produced precisely, efficiently and with high repeat accuracy.
In CNC bright turning, the workpiece is machined with very shallow infeed depths and special cutting tools to produce particularly smooth surfaces. The process ensures the highest surface quality and reduces the need for subsequent engraving or polishing. Among other things, Bharat Forge Daun uses a CNC lathe with an integrated Ecoroll unit, which additionally work-hardens and smoothes the surface.
This increases the quality and extends the service life of the manufactured components.
A CNC lathe produces rotationally symmetrical workpieces by turning the part and removing material with a stationary cutting tool. The CNC control regulates all parameters such as speed, feed rate and tool movement automatically and with high precision. At Bharat Forge Daun, complex components such as shafts, sleeves or housings are produced with consistent quality.
Thanks to the automated production process, individual parts can be manufactured just as economically as in series production.
CNC lathes enable high-precision machining with very good repeat accuracy and low tolerances. Automated production reduces set-up times and increases productivity – ideal for single parts and series production alike. The CNC machines at Bharat Forge Daun are designed for large workpieces and ensure stable processes and consistent quality. This reduces rework and ensures efficient, economical production of complex components.
The most important turning techniques include longitudinal turning, facing, profile turning, grooving, parting off and thread cutting. Drilling and milling operations can also be carried out directly on the CNC lathe using driven tools without having to reclamp the workpiece. Bharat Forge Daun combines these processes flexibly to produce complex geometries in a single manufacturing process. This saves time, reduces clamping errors and enables precise and efficient machining.
